CIT has been appointed as the developer for the Market Towers development site in Nine Elms, Wandsworth. CIT hopes to build a residential led mixed-use scheme of some 750,000ft2, which will also include offices and retail. The buildings will consist of 3 new high rise towers, the tallest of which is likely to comprise 40 storeys. The site is at the gateway to the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area, which stretches from Lambeth Bridge to Battersea Power Station, and has been earmarked by London's Mayor for major redevelopment - including 16,000 new homes and 25,000 new jobs. CIT hopes to submit a planning application to Wandsworth Council by the end of 2011
