Our History

The Capital and Income Trust Group of Companies (CIT) was founded in London in 1995 by John Barroll Brown. From the beginning, CIT has focused on doing things differently.

The group brought together experts from a range of disciplines to provide the equivalent of an investment banking operation that specialises in property. CIT quickly established itself as a major player in property investment with the acquisition of managed assets on behalf of its various investors, including London landmarks such as Sea Containers House, Royal Mint Court and 120 Holborn.

We aren’t constrained by sector or geography. Wherever we find a good deal, we chase it and we execute quickly and decisively. We consistently break new ground. Beginning with conventional yield and covenant investments in landmark London buildings, we moved into development, followed by retail and, most recently, leisure.

The intention is to identify the next upward-trending market, enter it decisively and recruit specialist skills to supplement our own. We then actively manage our properties to add value.

Sometimes we refurbish, sometimes we develop, sometimes we upgrade the tenant mix, sometimes we reposition. Our intention is always to improve the long-term value and returns for our investors.
